The Ministry of the Arts at Peninsula Christian Center is best defined by a brief description of the various events. This department is under the direction of Associate Pastor,Don Stavros and co-director, Lorin Wilson. If you desire involvement in week-to-week music ministry or any of the productions throughout the year, please call Don or Lorin at the church office.

    The Christmas Concert

This is an annual event with rehearsals beginning the first week of September.  The musical styles range from Big Band and Swing, to traditional Christmas anthems, to "Jingle Bells", to "Silent Night" and some in between. Productions involve the Chorale, various ensembles, soloists, the Drama Troupe, the Dancers, and singers from the Children’s Choir. This is a full musical theatre production that utilizes scenery, sets, props, theatrical lighting, costuming, stage make-up, etc. There are many opportunities to be involved even for those who don't sing nor act.

    The Easter Season Concert

This is an annual event as well, presented each Palm Sunday night. The "ingredients" are much the same as Christmas, except by its very focus on the cross of Calvary and the empty tomb, this program is more sacred in style. The Dance Troupe has been specifically featured at this concert and has brought great blessing and profound spiritual impact.

    Easter Sunday Morning

On Easter Morning the Chorale, ensembles, soloists and instrumentalists present music in the Sunrise Service and the Easter Morning Service of Celebration. We supplement our own musicians with professional brass players to form a Brass Choir for the Services.

    Love America Sunday

Each year on the Sunday prior to July 4th. the Creative Arts department presents a morning of sparkling, contagious and inspiring music, dance and narrative, followed by an old-fashioned Picnic On The Grounds. It’s a highlight event of the year and draws many elected city and state officials as well as PCC family and friends.

Sunday Service Ministries - In addition, the Creative and Fine Arts are active in Sunday and selected services throughout the year. The Worship Teams provide vocal support and direction to the regular Sunday services along with the PCC instrumentalists. Soloists and small groups are featured on an almost weekly schedule in the Morning Worship Hours.

The PCC Chorale - A group of volunteer singers who commit to each individual performance. Even though the group is volunteer, singers are selected with a goal of maintaining vocal balance between the SATB sections. Child care is provided for rehearsals.

The Praise Choir - This volunteer group meets weekly for rehearsals.  It is designed for those with little or no choir experience.  The primary focus of music selection is Gospel music and Praise and Worship music.   Within the  rehearsal schedule, group instruction is given in vocal production and music reading.

Ensembles and Soloists - These are almost always chosen from the members of the Chorale, though there are exceptions based on an individual’s involvement in other ministries within the church body.

The Worship Teams - These members are selected in the same manner as ensemble members and soloists.

Instrumentalists - Anyone who plays an instrument is welcome to contact Don or Lorin if there is an interest in playing in the services. An advanced level is not necessary, just a desire to work hard under leadership and be part of the worship experience.

The Drama Troupe - These players come together for Christmas and, on some years, Easter performances. We are fortunate to have the talent and expertise of a professional drama director for these major events. The rehearsal schedules become frequent and arduous as the performance dates draw near. Child care is provided for rehearsals.

The Dance Troupe - All the dance numbers for our major productions are choreographed by a professional choreographer. She is not only accomplished at working with and challenging our experienced dancers, she is equally gifted at choreographing numbers with beginning and intermediate dancers. If one has the desire (and any ability) to dance for the Lord, our choreographer is your "Godsend". Marian Stavros is the contact for this ministry.

Tech Crew - Anyone who would like to help with the production of our programs is welcomed. If you have any ability to offer the ministry, we have the opportunity. All tech crew people work under the direction of our Drama Director and our professional Lighting and Scenic designer.
